Customizing glass and tile to decorate your Nantucket home.

ACKfire Studios offers custom glass & tile at MHC

w/ Linda McAndrews

If you want to add a unique personal touch in your island home, artist-designers Alison MacDonald and Kathrine Moore of Ackfire Studios have you in mind. Formerly of Nantucket Tile Design,  Alison and Kathrine specialized in high-end tile and stone. When homeowners started approaching them looking to express their own personal style, the custom ceramic and glass studio came to fruition.

Ackfire Studios has created ceramic tiles with Nantucket themes to accent your home. You will find hydrangeas, catboats and other favorites in their “Island Icons” collection. The “Signal Flag” series features the nautical alphabet. They even produce large architectural tiles for fireplaces and murals.  Hand-carved originals are made into molds that are then hand-pressed, detailed, glazed and fired.

Many of these designs have carried over into the glass tiles and ‘Design Accents’. Beautiful turquoise, blue and green seashore shapes and many of the nautical themes can be found in platters, butler trays, plates, and coasters on display and offered exclusively at Marine Home Center. They make excellent gifts.

“We are so excited to partner with David Holland in the Home Furnishings department at Marine,” says Alison. “We are able to showcase our creations in a home-like setting where customers can then envision them as part of their own décor. We also have the ability to meet with customers wanting to add an element of design that is completely unique. We are committed to our clients and to our fire.”
